MY EXPERIENCE IN CONVENANT UNIVERSITY SO FAR
Roses are said and seen to be red but not all roses are red due to the
planting process and season. My stay in Covenant University so far has been an
unexplainable experience because it has been filled with joy and laughter.
I remember the very day I came to CU on the 30th of September, 2023. I was not happy at all, I
cried my eyeballs out like a baby to my parents telling them I don’t want to
stay. They prayed for me and said all
will be well and I held strong to that word. That very evening I entered Esther
hall after checking my things and doing my biometric enrollment, I was amazed
with my very eyes to see a big hostel that had four floors in it and had about
ten rooms on a floor, unfortunately for
me I was on the 4th floor which was the highest of them all, I
carefully carried my belongings to my room where I saw my beautiful room mates
who were so nice to me and helped me arrange my things since I looked so pale
after crying all day.
Later by 9:00pm we were all told to come downstairs to do our biometrics
capturing and I was so lost because I remembered doing mine. Immediately, I
went down as I was told too. Getting there I saw a very long line me being so
curious I asked what for and they explained the essential need of doing roll
call if I want to be save in CU.
Furthermore, the next day being Sunday I went to the school’s chapel to
worship, me expecting to see my parents in Canaanland but my joy that day was
shattered because I didn’t go there. Getting to the hall the Matron called me
and said I have a message, I was handed a paper and the content in it made me
breakdown because it was my parents telling me they have gone back to Abuja, I
couldn’t hold it but cry to my room where I was comforted and slept off. Later
that day we were informed of our orientation program which will take place in
chapel for four days.
The next day the orientation program started by 8:00am in the chapel.
During the program I sat with different people and made friends with a lot of
them. We were told the do’s and don’ts of the school and we were told to
strictly adhere to them to have a good stay in CU. The last day of the program
we were told that classes are starting by Monday and we must be in full
attendance to all our classes. The orientation week ended with a FRESHER’S
NIGHT where we got to relate and get along with different people from different
departments, it was a fun night which was aimed at making us feel ease before we
start our academic pursuit the next day.
Monday being the first day in the academic week we started going to our
different college buildings which was far from our halls to have classes lucky
for me I wasn’t lost on my way because the higher level students were also
going for classes so I just followed those wearing a goldish yellow tag which
is for COE ( College of Engineering) due to how big CU is and has a lot of buildings that look
alike. The first class I had was TMC (Total Man Concept) which was in the
chapel. The classes had one hour duration depending on the course and we had
break by 2-3 to stretch out and eat if we wanted to eat. During that period I
don’t bother going to any cafeteria because it will always be full and the
lines are always long.
Finally, to be very honest with myself I never thought I would like
Covenant University to this extent. I love the way we put God first in
everything we do, I don’t think any school will be able to take SPIRITUALITY as
their core value and I am really privileged to be in the 1st best University
in the whole of Nigeria and West Africa then the 4th best in Africa
what an honor I will never disregard.
So far my stay in CU (Covenant University) has been awesome and
delightful and I return all glory to GOD Almighty.
